Messages and moments together

Christmas messages for siblings: a detail for each child.

One child loves dinosaurs; the other has a whole family of soft toys in bed. A shared Christmas journey has room for both. Start with each child’s name and one familiar detail.

A letter for everyone, then a familiar name

The first letter can greet all the children together. In another, Santa might mention Alex’s teddy; later, Sam’s dinosaurs. Read the letters in order and look for something each child will recognise and enjoy.

If both want to open the same envelope, share the roles: one taps, the other chooses a reaction. Swap next time. A letter addressed to one child is still part of the shared journey, visible to everyone invited.

  1. Address the first letter to all the children.
  2. Give each child a familiar detail in a later letter.
  3. Take turns opening the envelope and choosing a reaction.

Words to borrow
“Hello, Alex and Sam! Alex, give me a wave with Teddy. And Sam, do you think a dinosaur would fit in my sleigh?”

Adapt them to the way your family talks.

When you read together, turn to each child for their part of the letter. A first name or nickname is enough for the greeting.
